Description

Pierced longitudinally for suspension, the scarab is finely carved from steatite, the back has a single suture and pronotum lines with markings on the elytra. The legs are naturalistically carved and deeply incised. Inscription at the base depicting a winged beetle and a sun disk above with uraei.

Dimensions: Length: 1/2 inch (1.27 cm)

Condition: Intact and in good condition overall.

Provenance: Private NY collection, thereafter on loan to the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University, Atlanta, GA, loan number: L 1998.62.123 (B)
