Ptolemaic Alabaster Dummy Amphora – Funerary Offering Vessel (300–30 BCE)

Description

The long cylindrical body tapering to a pointed base, twin lug handles below the rim.
Exhibited: “Dummy Vase”: San Bernardino, University Art Gallery, California State University and elsewhere, Temple, Tomb and Dwelling: Egyptian Antiquities from the Harer Family Trust Collection, January 8 – December 30, 1992.

Dimensions: Length: 3 1/8 inches (7.9 cm)

Condition:  Chip to base otherwise intact and in very good condition overall.  Faint pencil marks to the lower body.
Provenance: The Harer Family Trust Collection, acquired from Superior Galleries, Los Angeles, in 1978.
