Parthian Gold Eye-Agate Pendant – Ancient Near Eastern Ornament (200 BCE–200 CE)

Description

A superb agate eye pendant set in a wide border of high carat gold that is decorated with eleven raised circular elements with finely granulated borders.

Dimensions: Diameter: 1 1/2 inches (4 cm)

Condition: Missing suspension loops on the reverse, loss to one circular element and minor dents on the raised circular elements, two small holes in the border.

Provenance: Private NYC collection, ex. Anavian Family Collection acquired over 30 years ago by David and Henry Anavian, in Iran, prior to the Shahs departure.
